Boy who threw French child off UK's Tate charged with attempted murder

London's Metropolitan Police and first responders found the injured 6-year-old boy on the fifth-floor roof of the Tate.

He is a French national and police said they do not believe there is any link between the suspect and the victim.

Investigators are appealing to the public for help and are asking for any witnesses who did not already speak to the authorities to come forward.

The teen, who can not be named for legal reasons, wore a grey sweater and spoke to confirm his name, address, date of birth and nationality as British at the short court hearing, Sky News reported.

The viewing platform on the 10th floor remained closed. The museum - a former power station - opened its new expansion with the viewing platform in 2016.

"The complainant is a six-year-old boy and he was visiting the Tate Modern with his parents".

The London Ambulance Service said it received the first call about the incident at 2:40 p.m. local time (9:40 a.m. EDT) on Sunday.

She said the man, who appeared to be 19 to 21 years old, looked very calm and was not fighting back. "Then I saw that woman who was running and shouting, 'My son, oh my son'". The victim remains in critical but stable condition with a fractured spine. The boy was treated at the scene and then taken to the hospital by air ambulance.

Cops swooped to arrest a 17-year-old boy after the youngster was snatched from his mother's arms and sent plunging from the 10th floor at the central London art gallery yesterday in front of horrified families.
