Could Tottenham sign Philippe Coutinho at the transfer deadline finish line?

Sky Sports News report that Tottenham are the current favourites to land Coutinho and Pochettino has personally called the attacker to convince him to make the move.

Arsenal boss Unai Emery admits he's a fan of Philippe Coutinho.

Danny Murphy is tipping Arsenal to finish in the Premier League's top six this season.

Coutinho's time at Barcelona has not gone to plan, while Liverpool achieved an incredible points tally of 97 last season and lifted their sixth European trophy.

Arsenal previously became front runners to sign the former Liverpool star, but have now backed off after signing Nicholas Pepe and Dani Ceballos to strengthen their attack.

The Brazil worldwide has no shortage of suitors but has spoken previously of his bond with former club Liverpool where he has strong emotional ties and good friends.

If anyone can convince a player of Coutinho's skill set to join Tottenham, it's Pochettino. Just a year later, he made the move to Anfield. With the addition of Tanguy Ndombele in their midfield as well, Tottenham looks in good form heading into this weekend's Premier League opener.

Coutinho is open to leaving Barcelona this summer after a stop-start first 18 months at the club and Giuliano Bertolucci and Kia Joorabchian are looking at potential suitors and have approached Arsenal to see whether they are interested. Going back to a familiar league where he enjoyed a lot of success, even though it was with Liverpool, could be beneficial for the Brazilian global.

The report comes as Spurs midfielder Christian Eriksen is being linked with a last-minute switch to Manchester United.

- When does the transfer window close?

Daniel Levy, the Spurs chairman, would prefer to sell Eriksen overseas rather than to a direct rival but he is also reluctant to allow such a valuable asset to leave for nothing when his contract expires next summer.
