R. Kelly charged with sexual misconduct in Minnesota

The criminal sex scandal surrounding R&B singer R. Kelly has spread to Minnesota, where he is charged with soliciting a minor for sexual purposes 18 years ago, the Hennepin County Attorney's Office announced Monday.

The post R Kelly charged with another sex crime, this time in Minnesota appeared first on effect of Sound.

"After calling the number, the girl was invited to a hotel, where she met with the star and was offered "$200 to dance", according to the complaint. She was 17 at the time.

"We have special laws to protect our juveniles, and we're going to enforce them", Freeman told reporters. When he asked how she could afford a ticket, she allegedly told him she had gone to Kelly's hotel room and danced for him for money.

Recently, news surfaced that R. Kelly was denied bond after pleading not guilty to a string of charges that included sexual exploitation of a child.

"As this new case demonstrates, it is not too late for there to be justice for even more victims of R. Kelly", Allred said in a statement. He noted there was no sexual intercourse between Kelly and the victim.

Speaking about the charges, Freeman said, "We felt we had more than enough to charge based on her testimony and corroboration from her brother, I don't like buying sex from minors, and I don't think most other people do either".

Regardless of whether Kelly ever appears in a Minnesota courtroom, Freeman said, "By charging the case, we are at the table". He is also accused of using threats and bribes to silence his alleged victims. "This is beyond absurd". Last week, he was arraigned in NY for the federal charges against him and remains in federal custody.

The new charges come days after the disgraced superstar pleaded not guilty in NY to federal charges including racketeering, which allege he systematically recruited girls for sex while touring.

Kelly has remained in custody since July, awaiting trial on the 13-count indictment. But because police investigated the crime-which was reported in January of this year-he wanted to ensure that the victim's voice was heard.

The federal indictment in the northern district of IL outlines allegations by five additional victims and accuses Kelly of having sex with five minors in the late 1990s and early 2000s, recording some of the abuse on multiple videos.
