Arsenal captains to be decided by secret player vote

Arsenal defender Rob Holding has revealed how Unai Emery has made a decision to also include the input of the players in choosing who will be their five captains for the rest of the 2019/20 campaign.

"We played on Sunday but we want to do something important in this competition", Emery said, via the BBC.

Tierney played 77 minutes before being replaced by Hector Bellerin.

"But he came here and we were waiting and watching him, how he could improve with us".

The ongoing farce has taken another twist, however, as Rob Holding revealed the Spaniard asked his squad to vote for their picks for the position.

'He speaks highly of us so he's a good addition to bring in'.

Now though, the Spanish boss has made it clear that the defender is not likely to start this high-profile encounter primarily because he is not a 100 per cent fit to play a 90-minute match.

Speaking about Smith Rowe, he added: "It was for a precaution we changed him".

"It depends how he's feeling, but in his mind, he's feeling very well and I think the first minutes tonight were unbelievable for him".

"The idea is to give them minutes if we can", mentioned Emery. I'm very happy with him.

All eyes were on the Emirates this evening as Arsenal entertained Nottingham Forest in the EFL Cup.

"He deserved it because he is very humble, he fights, he's hungry to have that opportunity to help us".

Forest, backed by nearly 8,400 fans, managed only one attempt on target in 90 minutes in their first visit to Arsenal since a 2-1 top-flight loss in August 1998. "He said I'm ready and wanted to play." .

Granit Xhaka has skippered the side in every league game so far this season, while out-of-favour midfielder Mesut Ozil took the responsibilty against Nottingham Forest in the Carabao Cup.

Despite winning their last three games in all competitions, there is apparently an air of uncertainty at Arsenal behind the scenes.
