Christie Brinkley's Daughter Sailor to Replace Her on 'DWTS': Find Out Why

The injury happened Thursday night when Brinkley got her heel caught and tried to break her fall with her hand, "DWTS" co-executive producer Deena Katz told ABC News.

ABC said in a statement that Brinkley is unable to continue this season following surgery to her wrist and arm.

Christie Brinkley's daughter Sailor Brinkley-Cook will be replacing her mom on this season of "Dancing with the Stars" after the supermodel fell and broke her arm during rehearsals, Christie's rep confirms to CNN.

Christie Brinkley and her daughter Sailor Brinkley-Cook attend Elie Tahari FW 19 Runway Show, Feb. 7, 2019, in NY. The network wished Brinkley a speedy recovery and said it hoped to see her in the audience cheering for her daughter.

The blonde model, 65, now has to drop out of the competition show, which will debut on Monday evening. Brinkley's daughter, Sailor Brinkley-Cook, has followed in her mother's footsteps as a Sports Illustrated model. "Sailor joined the cast when I got mine ... ouch somebody stop me, it hurts to laugh".

Brinkley took to Instagram last week with a photo of herself and her partner rehearsing, his identity concealed head-to-toe with drooling emojis.

"She immediately said, 'I think I broke it, '" Katz said. "Sailor always meets her challenges head on and realized she did not want to be defined by her fears so with just hours to learn my routine, she is turning my defeat - or should I say two left feat - into her own victory of courage!" Sailor also revealed that her mom loves dancing and performing, and "getting hurt was her worst nightmare".

Of course, she's doing the show with one person in mind.

Season 28 of Dancing With the Stars premieres tonight, Monday, September 16, but it's already making a major casting change.
