CoD YouTuber leaks Modern Warfare beta maps, level cap

Activision's next big push for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare is happening this week: it's beta time (for some players, anyway).

For now, the Modern Warfare beta on PS4 is scheduled for Thursday, September 12, with some gamers receiving interesting emails today.

PlayStation Plus is needed in "some territories". However, those who have pre-ordered the game will get early access to the beta on Thursday, September 12 and Friday, September 13, while those who haven't pre-ordered the game will have to wait until Saturday to access the CoD: MW beta. The beta's second weekend (September 19-23) includes cross-play, which should prove interesting. PlayStation 4 players can begin playing on September 19 regardless of whether they've preordered or not.

Anyone who has pre-ordered the game on Xbox One, or on PC via Blizzard can play during the same period, followed by open beta access for everyone else on September 21. Pre-load for the beta is available right now. Make sure to select the platform and region before submitting the beta code.

Downloading the Beta: Once you've received your Beta Code, go to PlayStation Store. Codes can be entered via the store using the redeem code feature.

According to Activision, who offered Beta details on their official Games Blog, the Beta will let players try out new gameplay mechanics that sets Modern Warfare apart from previous entries, including "bullet penetration, gun mounting, door breaching and night vision multiplayer gameplay maps".

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare will be out for PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on October 25.

Developed by Infinity Ward, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare takes the concept of modern combat and reapplies it, with familiar characters in unfamiliar situations.

What's actually playable in the beta? See for more details.

With tomorrow being Wednesday, September 11, the chance of the Beta going live on that day is slim to none out of respect for the day and its history. Limited time only, while Early Access Beta Codes last, at participating retailers.
