Indianapolis Colts sign ex-Patriot QB Brian Hoyer

The Indianapolis Colts now have two former Tom Brady backups. Rapoport also reported that Brissett will get $20 million guaranteed at signing.

According to an ESPN report, the Colts offer is a three-year, $12 million deal that includes $9 million guaranteed.

Brissett, 26, was selected by the New England Patriots in the third round of the 2016 National Football League draft, and led the Colts during the 2017 season while Luck was recovering from shoulder surgery.

With Chad Kelly already suspended the first two weeks of the regular season, the only other option on the Colts' roster after the conclusion of the preseason would've been Phillip Walker, but the team waived him during final cuts on Saturday.

The Colts extended quarterback Jacoby Brissett's contract through the 2021 season on Monday afternoon, showing some confidence in their former backup. The Colts acquired Brissett from the Patriots on September 2, 2017, when Luck was struggling because of a shoulder injury.

Brissett started two games as a rookie with the New England Patriots in 2016.

Veteran NFL quarterback Brian Hoyer has reportedly found a new home, signing a sizable new contract ahead of the 2019 regular season.

"I know this about Jacoby, he will not flinch", Colts general manager Chris Ballard said Sunday. Brissett has thrown 13 touchdowns, seven interceptions and has completed 59.1 percent of his passes.
