The world´s largest smartphone maker spent almost eight years developing the Galaxy Fold, but had to hold its launch in April after reviewers reported screen problems within days of use. However, after reviewers found major reliability issues with the phone's design and display, the company had to cancel the launch. For whatever reason, Samsung was letting you hang-on to them until the phone returned after being fixed, but things have changed some and you will need to re-order if still interested. The new Galaxy Fold will be available in South Korea tomorrow, followed by a more global launch in the coming weeks.

Samsung has revealed the Samsung Galaxy Fold... again.

The new caps covering the hinge gaps at the top and bottom of the screen are created to prevent dust from getting into the hinge mechanism, which can potentially cause damage, according to Engadget.

At long last, the Galaxy Fold is finally nearly ready to ship to consumers.

Samsung also announced that anyone who buys a Fold will have access to "specialised customer care services", including 24-hour support and access to one-on-one time with Samsung experts.

The flickering screen issue is not limited to devices without the protective film, Mr Kovach claimed, adding his colleague Todd Haselton had not removed the film from CNBC's device, but it had experienced the same issue.

The changes to the new Galaxy Fold (top) are small but significant. It's also slightly heavier at 276g versus 263g in the original version. The Samsung Galaxy Fold packs a total of six cameras and is still powered by a Snapdragon 855, coupled with 12 GB RAM and 512GB of storage. It looks like the hinge becomes completely covered by the Fold's two halves when it's unfolded. That's been added to the existing metal under-layer and softer protective layer that the old design used.

It's baffling that the hinges were left so exposed on the first version - this makes much more sense.
Because it didn't fully cover the entire 7.3-inch folding display, there were edges that people could pick at.
