Suzanne Whang, 'House Hunters' host, dies at 56

Former House Hunters host Suzanne Whang has died at age 56.

Whang's partner Jeff Vezain shared the news on Facebook Thursday, writing that "she confronted cancer with courage, humor, determination and optimism".

Vezain said Whang was encouraged by the love of her friends, family and fans and that "she would prefer that her life be celebrated, as opposed to her passing mourned".

And she was a published author, radio host, producer, political activist and a minister.

As an actor, she portrayed Polly, the outrageous spa manager, on NBC's series Las Vegas for four seasons and had a reoccurring role as Carol Cheng, the wedding planner from hell, on the soap opera General Hospital.

Whang was born in Virginia to Korean parents and studied at Yale University and Brown University. He said he has been doing a lot of crying and laughing and everything in between.

"Instead of graciously going away, Felicia (the sternum tumor) started growing by leaps and bounds, and I really thought I was on my way off the planet", Whang wrote in her posting.

In 2011, doctors told her she had six months to live. She beat the disease for years until it returned in October 2018. 'Her audacious sense of humor blessed many, shocked a few, but allowed us to laugh in the face of adversity. He called Whang an unbelievable daughter, sister, friend, mentor, and advocate.

Vezain continued by praising Whang as "an wonderful daughter, sister, friend, mentor and advocate", before asking her fans for "prayers and loving thoughts" in the midst of her death.

"#RIP my bold, brilliant, hilarious friend @suzannewhang", Bergeron captioned a photo featuring the pair of hosting veterans.

"Prayers for the fearless and courageous @suzannewhang. I feel grateful to have known her and send love to those who loved her".

The HGTV personality, who hosted and narrated the long-running real estate show from 1999 to 2007, died at 7:20PM Tuesday night, according to the post. Whang's last project, "The Pipeline", is now in post-production.
