Facing growing calls for his impeachment, President Donald Trump addressed the U.N. General Assembly on Tuesday and delivered a roaring defense of nationalism and American sovereignty even as he tried to rally a multinational response to Iran's escalating aggression. "U.S. standing in the world is a real material asset to USA presidents in pursuing policy objectives, and the lack of it hurts America's ability to advance its interests and values", says Pascal.

The U.S. issued a new round of sanctions against Iran on Friday after the U.S. blamed Iran for an attack on a Saudi oil facility. "I'll be discussing it a little bit tomorrow", Trump said during a bilateral meeting with Singaporean Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong.

Details of future deployments to Poland are still being worked out, Trump said, but "Poland has borne the expense".

He said Beijing had failed to keep promises it made when China joined the World Trade Organization in 2001 and was engaging in predatory practices that had cost millions of jobs in the United States and other countries. The world order the US helped create after World War II to promote democracy and free markets has also allowed a totalitarian state like China to engage in unfair trade practices while suppressing its citizens at home.

Trump in his speech went even further, calling Venezuela's leader Nicolas Maduro a "Cuban puppet" and stating that the US welcomed the day "when Venezuela will be free and when liberty will prevail throughout this hemisphere".

Trump called on countries to end religious persecution, repeal laws that restrict freedom of religion and belief, and increase prosecution for crimes against religious communities, among other measures.

Trump said Monday that another meeting with the North Korean leader "could happen soon".
