United States doctors group says just stop vaping as deaths, illnesses rise

Nicotine is found in many plants, including tobacco.

The Israeli warning comes after United States health officials again urged people over the weekend to stop "vaping" until they figure out why some are coming down with serious breathing illnesses.

In this Tuesday, April 10, 2018 photo, vaping devices that were confiscated from students in such places as restrooms or hallways at the school in Marshfield, Mass.

Symptoms of the illness include cough, shortness of breath, chest pain, nausea, diarrhea, vomiting, fatigue, abdominal pain, fever or weight loss. Some have been sick to the stomach, felt very exhausted, suffered weight loss or developed high body temperatures.

The CDC added that e-cigarette users should not modify their products or add substances not intended by the manufacturer.

These findings cast further doubt on the wisdom of general warnings about "vaping" and "e-cigarettes", which imply that legal nicotine products are implicated in these cases.

THC-based vape pens are considered illegal under USA federal law, but they are legal in some states.

NY state investigators found the substance in 13 cartridges collected from eight patients. State investigators have found the substance in 13 cartridges collected from eight patients. "For example, there are many CBD skin care oils marketed online that contain vitamin E acetate and other oils in addition to CBD". Officials said it is considered unsafe if heated and inhaled.

There are now 14 cases of severe lung illness in Dallas County related to e-cigarettes.

Most of the cases are among adolescents and young adults.

"While this investigation is ongoing, consider not using e-cigarette products, "the CDC said in a statement on its website". He noted, "Although more investigation is needed to determine the vaping agent or agents responsible, there is clearly an epidemic that begs for an urgent response".

The tweet ended with a mention of the Department of Health and Human Services, and quickly gained thousands of likes and retweets. As of the time of writing, 33 states - including DE and nearby Maryland - have reported possible cases of lung illnesses associated with the use of e-cigarette products (e.g., devices, liquids, refill pods, and cartridges).

The Centers for Disease Control in the US said it doesn't know if the illness is new or just newly recognized. But the long-term health effects of vaping are largely unknown.

And while the agency strongly recommends that people stop using e-cigarettes altogether, it has advice for people unable or unwilling to do so. Last week MI became to first state to ban flavored e-cigarettes.

For that reason, doctors and health officials are continuing to suggest people stay away from all vaping products until the investigation establishes exactly what is at the root of the illnesses.

She added, "This is too important".

On Monday, the Food and Drug Administration, or FDA gave a warning to JUUL Labs, maker of the best-selling e-cigarettes. During the presentation, the representative told students the company's product was "totally safe". The students said a representative of Juul was invited to address the school on addiction issues. The FDA has been investigating Juul for months but had not previously warned the company.
