An Australian vegan has been locked in a legal battle with her neighbors for years after claiming they purposely used their barbecue to cook meat, sending the smells wafting into her backyard.
A frustrated vegan has filed a lawsuit against her neighbours for braaiing in their back yards.
According to Australia's Nine News, Cilla Carden took the case against her next-door neighbours to the Supreme Court of Western Australia in late 2018.
"Cilla Carden has a problem with her neighbours cooking meat on their BBQ, because she's a vegan. I can't enjoy my backyard, I can't go out there", she says. "They've put (the barbecue) there so I smell fish - all I can smell is fish", she told Nine News. "I haven't been able to sleep".
Meanwhile, once news of her lawsuits made headlines earlier this week, a Facebook group was started, organising a barbecue to be held next month outside of Carden's home.
The Australian woman, who works as a massage therapist, said they were deliberately interrupting her garden time by barbecuing meat, smoking outdoors and letting their kids play basketball. The courts dismissed her case and denied her appeal, but Carden said she won't stop fighting the issue.
Ms Carden believes the smells and noises are premeditated and has taken her complaint to the WA Supreme Court.
"BYO hotdog buns, p.s".
"Ms Carden's demands were proven to be not reasonable and indeed were to the detriment of the other owners' ability to enjoy their lots in a reasonable and acceptable manner", the neighbour, who wants to stay anonymous, said.
The barbecue is scheduled for October 19 - and vegans are not welcome, the page says.
