Conor McGregor, Frankie Edgar Pressure Dana White To Make Fight Happen

"Happy birthday Frankie, see you in December", McGregor tweeted.

While Conor McGregor has been hinting at a return to the UFC for the better part of this year, it appears his latest attempt to generate some interest around his MMA career might have some legs.

Five minutes later, McGregor shot back and not only offered his support to the fight, but offered to donate his earnings if the fight was made.

A bust-up between both camps followed the fight, leading to McGregor being banned for six months by the Nevada State Athletic Commission.

"The Notorious" is in desperate need of a victory if he is to make another run at a world championship, having not won a fight in over three years.

Earlier this week, the official UFC twitter account sent a Happy Birthday shout out to Edgar, to which McGregor replied, "Happy birthday Frankie, see you in December." .

A McGregor-Edgar fight makes sense to two of the most talented fighters in UFC history, but on Wednesday morning, ESPN's Ariel Helwani reported the UFC wasn't ready to move forward just yet, especially not in December.

Edgar promptly responded to this initial call-out from McGregor.

"I don't know what it is". "I told him I want to fight him, I told the UFC I want to fight him".

"Who else is top of the list?"

McGregor hasn't fought since his loss to Khabib Nurmagomedov last November at UFC 229, and has even announced his retirement on social media since the bout. Frankie Edgar is also up there - right there- on the list.

" I want these types of similar bouts". And also, Frankie has been very respectful. Frankie has always been respectful.

McGregor seemed open to the bout, encouraging UFC president Dana White to finalize it.

"But honestly, I don't think the UFC wants that fight". The ball is in his court.

A one-time lightweight champ, Edgar has a record of 23-7-1 and his last fight was a loss to Max Holloway back in July.
