FC Bayern Munich - Champions League - 1 October 2019

Bayern Munich captain Manuel Neuer heads into Tuesday's Champions League clash with Tottenham Hotspur aiming for a display that settles the debate about whether he should remain Germany's first-choice goalkeeper ahead of Barcelona's Marc-Andre ter Stegen.

"I am open to everything but that is a dealing between the club, him and his agent", he said.

Tottenham drew their opening Group B game with Olympiakos this month.

"It is my eighth season here".

"I am not going too much into that", he said. And, as you can see, I am very happy at Bayern. I feel like I have a couple of good years left in me. I have had a great past and I am feeling great in every single way here. That result adds pressure on Tottenham as they must get a result from this fixture.

The showdown in London will be key in deciding who will win Group B, with Bayern now top after beating Red Star Belgrade 3-0 in their opener a fortnight ago and Spurs needing a home victory to get back on track after throwing away a two-goal lead in a 2-2 draw at Olympiakos.

Who will come out on top in the battle of the managers Mauricio Pochettino or Niko Kovac? It was a dream of mine to play in all the big leagues.

"We need the mental and physical resilience and make sure we respond to challenge".

"That is what we try to do every season". This year we use a different system.

"This is one of the leagues in which I really want to play". That is why in football it's important how you start, but it's more important how you finish. "That's why in a long season, you need to be calm, you need to be strong in your mentality".

Tottenham last met Bayern in the 1983-84 Uefa Cup, knocking them out 2-1 on aggregate en route to winning the competition - their last European trophy. The match starts at 20:00 on 1 October 2019.

Neuer has kept almost 300 clean sheets in just over 600 Bundesliga games and was named in FIFA's World XI four years running up until 2016, when he was made German captain.

"Last season we would have all signed up for the same campaign in the Champions League", the Argentine told reporters on Monday.

On the other side of the coin, Bayern Munich won their previous game 3-2 away from home. However, he is yet to find the net in six home games. Robert Lewandowski, Thomas Muller, and Kingsley Coman all scored for Bayern Munich.
