Trey Gowdy of SC has signed on to President Trump's outdoors authorized group in his battle in opposition to impeachment by the Home.

Gowdy, who oversaw the investigation into the terrorist attack in Benghazi, Libya, as chairman of the House Benghazi Committee, is a Republican who represented SC in Congress for four terms before retiring in 2019. Former Rep. Trey Gowdy left his role as contributor at Fox News to join President Donald Trump's legal team. "His legal skills and his advocacy will serve the President well", Sekulow said.

"Trey's command of the law is well known and his service on Capitol Hill will be a great asset as a member of our team", Sekulow said.

In a recent appearance on Fox, Gowdydismissed Giuliani's efforts to dig up dirt on former Vice President Joe Biden's family's activities in Ukraine.

He retired in January at the conclusion of his final term and joined Fox News as a contributor.

The White House wrote in an eight-page letter to Congress on Tuesday that it won't participate in what it's calling an "illegal" investigation, writing that the inquiry "violates fundamental fairness and constitutionally mandated due process" and "lacks any legitimate constitutional foundation".

Even before his new position was announced, some detractors were accusing him of joining a legal team whose aim is to stifle Democrats' investigation of the president, even though he fought for full White House disclosures while in Congress.

Trump today that he would consider cooperating with the impeachment inquiry if the House formally voted to approve rules for the investigation and if those rules were "fair". Who told you Trey Gowdy?
