Homeless soprano captures hearts with operatic subway serenade

Calls have been made to make a homeless woman filmed singing Puccini's "O mio babbino caro" in a Los Angeles subway a professional opera singer. "Four million stories. Four million voices.sometimes you just have to stop and listen to one, to hear something attractive", the LAPD wrote.

The video has been considered greater than 800,000 occasions.

It turns out that she is Emily Zamourka, who grew up in Russian Federation before moving to the United States, according to the Los Angeles Times.

But she experienced pancreas and liver problems in 2005 after moving to Washington and soon sought treatment at a hospital in Los Angeles. And a musician touched by the video is wanting to donate a violin so that she becomes self supporting.

CNN affiliate KABC spoke to Zamourka, and learned that she's been homeless for a couple of years.

"My dreams are always there, of course", Zamourka told The Times. "It was everything to me".

At the time, the woman was unidentified, but Los Angeles TV station KABC found her.

Zamourka stated she fell behind on hire and was evicted. "I am sleeping where I can sleep. I enjoy those that feel sorry for me, however I don't have to be a burden to any one".

Zamourka said she hopes to one day work in music again, and she hopes her newfound fame can turn her situation around. Sing in the subway, apparently.

She likes the acoustics of the subway tunnels.

"You know why I do it in the subway?" Zamourka informed KNBC-TV. "As a outcome of it sounds so enormous".

Zamourka has had many affords of free violins as effectively. Several GoFundMe pages have been set up to help her, and one violinist offered to give her an instrument.

In the meantime, after Zamourka's efficiency went viral, folks have moved to assist her discover long-term housing.

She has already been booked by Los Angeles City Council to sing on Saturday night at the opening of Little Italy, an area in San Pedro celebrating Italian heritage.

Sergeant Hector Guzman, a spokesman for the Los Angeles Police Department told the Los Angeles Times that Zamourka's voice had struck a chord with officers.
