Panthers get reality check with 51-13 loss to unbeaten 49ers

The Panthers not only possessed a winning record (4-2), but they had won four consecutive games entering Sunday's game. This is a game that could bode major trouble for the 49ers, so here are my thoughts on this matchup. Like with many things in the National Football League, if any one of the Panthers' offensive linemen is consistently overmatched on Sunday, it will make things very hard indeed for Kyle Allen and the passing game in general. And how will 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan choose to feature the team's new unsafe receiving threat, wideout Emmanuel Sanders?

Christian McCaffrey was the lone bright spot on Carolina's offense with 117 yards rushing and a TD and 38 yards receiving.

McCaffrey is the catalyst of their offense with 162 touches on the season and is an absolute machine that most likely can not be stopped.

While Jimmy Garoppolo was efficient and solid, the 49ers quarterback didn't have to do too much thanks to his defense and the run game. Is it going to be just one bad game? He finished with four catches for 25 yards.

49ers running back Matt Breida injured his ankle on the final play of the first half in Sunday's win over the Panthers.

"We allowed it to happen previous year, and it tanked our season", said Olsen, who also addressed the team in the locker room postgame. "I'll tell you guys where he is [status-wise] on Monday".

I also really like the matchup of Kyle Allen against this Niner secondary.

The Niners (7-0) scored their most points a game since defeating the Detroit 55-17 in 1993. I think we could see similar results against the young quarterback in Allen who's yet to face adversity.
