Yadav, Jadeja hand India record 11th-straight Test series win

With the win, India took an unassailable lead of 2-0 in the three-match Test series.

Virat Kohli, who went on to become the first Indian captain to win a Test series in Australia, stated that the current side has the curiosity and zeal to keep improving.

Having brought the Proteas' first innings to a close in the final moments of the third day, India began the fourth by choosing to enforce the follow on, and got instant reward as Ishant Sharma pinned Aiden Markram lbw for 0, the opener recording a pair.

During the match against South Africa, Saha proved exactly what he is capable of as he grabbed a stunning piece of a one-handed catch, diving to his left to send de Bryun packing at the best scene.

It keeps India with a ideal four from four record in the world test championship, and is the 30th win under Kohli's captaincy, in 50 tests.

A nervy Theunis de Bruyn opened his account with a missed run out chance and then Kohli dropped him at slip but the batsman could not make the most of his reprieves.

Elgar and skipper Faf du Plessis (5 off 54 balls) added 49 runs and were ready to show patience, especially the skipper, who was presenting dead bat.

Elgar, who lost a bit of concentration, tried to play a lofted shot but didn't get his timing right as Umesh ran back from his mid-off position to take a fine running catch as India got the decisive breakthrough.

Quinton de Kock then perished in tame fashion post the interval but once again, the lower order didn't cave in without putting up a fight.

In reply, South Africa were bundled out for 275 runs giving the hosts a lead of 326 runs.

However, Umesh Yadav came out furiously in the 67th over and took two wickets. India scored a mammoth 601 for five in their first innings with skipper Virat Kohli leading the side with a majestic double hundred.

"We are lucky to have a group of players we have in the last three-four years. It's fantastic to see that hunger and passion for all the guys to keep improving", man-of-the-match Kohli said after the win.

"As a captain you are trying to think of ways, how you can change little field placements, bowlers but he was too good", Du Plessis said of Kohli.

"The batsmen were weak on mindset for fielding so long".
