A very special article: Jose Mourinho is not Chelsea’s to own

Portuguese duo Joao Sacramento and Nuno Santos are to leave their jobs as coaches at Lille in order to become part of compatriot Jose Mourinho's staff at Tottenham Hotspur, the French club said on Wednesday (Nov 20). The Argentine led the team to reach the final of the UEFA Champions League last season but disappointed the board as Spurs are now ranked 14th in the Premier League.

Either way, he'll be an exciting addition to the Premier League and on December 22, we'll all be in for a right treat. Chelsea are set to take on Spurs just three days before Christmas and this time, there's a twist in store.

Pochettino spent five-and-half seasons at Spurs, helping them to four consecutive top-four finishes and turning them to a club to reckon with domestically and on the continent.

Pochettino, who moved to Spurs from Southampton in May 2014, led Tottenham to the final of the Champions League last season, where they fell 2-0 to Liverpool in Madrid.

Chairman Daniel Levy said he was "reluctant" to sack the Argentine, but explained the decision had to be made in the "club's best interests".

Levy also expressed his excitement in luring the two-time UEFA Champions League victor to the club.

"People question the Manchester United job, but his career as a whole has been hugely successful, and that's one thing Tottenham have lacked at the moment".

Reacting to news of Pochettino's departure, Harry Kane wrote on Twitter: "Gaffer".

"You were my manager but my friend as well and I thank you for that relationship".

Mourinho takes charge of Tottenham for the first time on Saturday at West Ham with the team 14th in the Premier League after 12 games, 11 points off the four Champions League qualification positions where Tottenham grew accustomed to finishing under Pochettino. "Good luck with your next chapter!"
