Tua Tagovailoa #13 of the Alabama Crimson Tide reacts after throwing an interception in the first half against the Tennessee Volunteers at Bryant-Denny Stadium on October 19, 2019 in Tuscaloosa, Alabama.
Tagovailoa was taken off on a cart during Alabama's 38-7 win against Mississippi State on Saturday, after he was sacked by two defenders late in the second quarter. But, according to a release from the university, the junior quarterback is "expected to make a full recovery" from the injury he suffered against Mississippi State on Saturday. He was flown by helicopter to the St. Vincent's Medical Center in Birmingham, Alabama.
Aaron Suttles of The Athletic is reporting that Tagovailoa is out for the season with a dislocated hip with a posterior wall fracture.
"He is undergoing further testing to determine the best course of treatment", Alabama team orthopedic surgeon Lyle Cain said in a statement. Mac Jones replaced Tagovailoa, who did not join the team on the sideline after halftime. "That was going to be his last series, we're were going to do some 2-minute before the half with him, just for practice".
"I don't worry about players getting hurt, but certainly don't want to see anybody get hurt, especially him".
At the time of the injury, he had completed 14-of-18 passes for 258 yards and two touchdowns. Harris finished with 88 yards rushing and 51 yards receiving.
On Sunday morning, Alabama defensive lineman Phidarian Mathis shared a photo of himself and teammate Raekwon Davis visiting Tagovailoa in the hospital. Alabama rallied to beat the Bulldogs 26-23 in overtime. Stevens did rush for 96 yards on 10 carries.
