Alex Trebek gets choked up over contestant's answer

He composed himself and moved on to the other two contestants, Kyle Jones and Emma Boettcher, both of whom guessed the correct answer: "What is 'other half lives.' " But the moment quickly started making the rounds on social media, as "We love you Alex" began trending on Twitter.

Jeopardy! host Alex Trebek has been getting an outpouring of support since her revealed that he was battling stage 4 pancreatic cancer.

"Let's take a look at your response, did you come up with the right one? No?"

Earlier this month, another Jeopardy! contestant donated $10,000 to cancer research in honor of Trebek. "Thank you", he said. As Trebek asked players for their respond to for the duration of the "Last Jeopardy" round, contestant Dhruv Gaur wrote an remedy that stole the hearts of all people observing. "You're left with with five bucks".

"We were all hurting for him so badly", Gaur wrote.

"I'm just very grateful I got the opportunity to say what I know everyone was thinking".

Trebek revealed in September that his doctor had ordered him to have chemotherapy against after taking a short break from treatment. Trebek has made a decision to continue hosting the show, however, returning in August after starting chemotherapy.

"I used to be doing so effectively and my numbers went all the way down to the equal of a traditional human being who doesn't have pancreatic most cancers, so we have been all very optimistic", Trebek mentioned on the time. "I'm sure there are observant members of the television audience that notice also, but they're forgiving". So, hey, I've lived a good life, a full life, and I'm nearing the end of that life. One thing they're not going to say at my funeral as part of a eulogy: 'He was taken from us too soon.' I'm 79 years old.

Alex Trebek is known for his stoicism as the longtime host of "Jeopardy", so to see him break character was unusual, but great to see.
