Arsenal distance themselves from Mourinho rumours amid Emery troubles

With pressure mounting on Unai Emery at Arsenal, former Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho reportedly met with the Gunners head of football earlier this week.

The second fastest player in Arsenal history to reach 50 goals for the club, Aubameyang was handed the captaincy this week when manager Unai Emery chose to take the armband from Granit Xhaka.

Emery is expected to recall a number of players with the likes of Bernd Leno, David Luiz, Hector Bellerin, Matteo Guendouzi and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang all set to come back into the Arsenal side after being rested in midweek. The two men have not seen each other for some time. "This is a club that's pure in its community spirit, doesn't get carried away with all the stuff that the Premier League can bring and he's the type of guy who will have enjoyed that, being looked after".

Arsenal will be on their way to face Leicester City on Saturday, November 9, in their next Premier League game in what will be a fight for the top four.

Arsenal failed to hold on to a lead once again, conceding an injury-time equalizer as it was held to a 1-1 draw at Vitoria in the Europa League on Wednesday.

Unai Emery said after the game on Wednesday that he hoped the injury wasn't too serious and Arsenal have now confirmed the midfielder is still being assessed before the full extent of the problem is known.

When asked whether he was concerned about his future in the wake of three draws in a week, Emery replied: "We speak about how we can improve and how to achieve the best performance".

Mourinho has been out of work for nearly a year since being sacked by Manchester United just before last Christmas.
