Body of missing British tourist found

Australian police have found a body they believe to be that of Aslan King, a British backpacker who went missing from a campsite at the weekend.

Earlier this week, authorities said Mr King had been with four friends when he hit his head on the ground about 02:00 local time on Saturday (15:00 GMT Friday) and suffered a "medical episode".

"It's believed Aslan, who has been in Australia for two weeks on holidays, may be disorientated and become lost in the bush", police said in a statement.

A report will be prepared for the coroner, police said.

The site is near the town of Princetown, beside cliffs on the Victorian coast near the tourist site known as the Twelve Apostles, a series of rocky outcrops rising out of the ocean some 100 miles south-west of Melbourne.

"We're not looking at any foul play, we're looking for a missing person", Victoria Police Sergeant Danny Brown told reporters Monday, on announcing the extension of the search area to 4 kilometers (2.5 miles).

Authorities said the search was hard because of the thick vegetation, rocky clifftops and deep coastal waters in the region.
