Former New England Patriots WR Josh Gordon claimed by Seattle Seahawks

The Seattle Seahawks claimed receiver Josh Gordon off waivers, giving the NFC West contenders a new option for the offense.

The waiver priority list works in the inverse order of the current National Football League standings.

The Seahawks (6-2) will face the Buccaneers (2-5) Sunday at 4:05 p.m. ET. In 17 games with the Patriots, he caught 60 passes for 1007 yards and four touchdowns, but the team opted to place him on waivers Thursday.

Gordon had been playing through a left knee injury and was knocked out of the team's October 10 win over the New York Giants.

He started and played 11 games last season before being suspended late in the season; Gordon was reinstated by the National Football League in August and played and started six games this season.

While it's entirely possible Gordon doesn't fit with Seattle - and it must be noted his rest-of-season production floor is low - a move to Seattle could lead to a return to his production in New England that made him essentially a boom-or-bust WR3.

The wideout was placed on IR after missing the Patriots' Week 7 contest with injuries to his knee and ankle. The team traded a fifth-round pick for Gordon and a seventh-round pick from the Cleveland Browns. He now joins a receiving corps that features Tyler Lockett and DK Metcalf and will catch balls from MVP candidate Russell Wilson.
