Lane Kiffin reportedly finalizing deal to become next Ole Miss coach

Lane Kiffin appears to be on his way back to the SEC.

Late Friday night, a report emerged listing Florida Atlantic head coach Lane Kiffin as the favorite for the Ole Miss vacancy.

Monte made fans happy with an "SEC, SEC" chant while hopping into the vehicle as well. No word on how he feels about Conference USA and Boca Raton, but needless to say, he's pumped about the move to Oxford.

Kiffin served as offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach for three seasons (one of which ended in a national championship) before taking the FAU job ahead of the 2017 season.

Since leaving Alabama, Kiffin has a 25-13 record at Florida Atlantic and is expected to be introduced with the Rebels after the Owls' Conference USA title game appearance on Saturday. The person spoke to The Associated Press on condition of anonymity because negotiations were ongoing and Kiffin still has a game to coach. Luke was sacked after three seasons at Ole Miss, the first of which he served as the Rebels' interim coach before he was named the permanent coach following the 2017 season.
