Those plans apparently are done, as TMZ Sports reports that Randolph, 38, is planning to retire after 17 seasons in the league.
Randolph had a pretty stellar career - he was a 1st-round pick in 2001, a 2-time NBA All-Star. and became a Memphis Grizzlies legend during his run there.
Nicknamed Z-Bo, the big man was selected by the Portland Trail Blazers with the 19th overall pick in the 2001 National Basketball Association draft out of Michigan State. In his third season, he increased his production as he was moved to the starting line-up.
When asked about Grizzlies' rookie Ja Morant's chances of being the rookie of the year, he said that the guard has a good chance. Randolph will always be loved in Memphis.
Randolph signed a lucrative deal with the Kings back in 2017 as a mentor to the young squad taking foot in Northern California and that brought an end to his celebrated eight-year run with a memorable Memphis Grizzlies franchise. The Mavericks then waived him. This made Randolph the first former Grizzly to have a number retired.
Memphis forward Zach Randolph might be on the move if the Grizzlies believe he will opt-out of his contract next summer.
