Kansas suspends De Sousa indefinitely after wild brawl with K

Kansas junior forward Silvio De Sousa has been suspended indefinitely by Jayhawks coach Bill Self for his actions in a melee that broke out at the end of Tuesday's KU-Kansas State basketball game at Allen Fieldhouse.

After the horrific brawl, officials actually brought the teams back onto the floor for a brief moment and awarded a technical free throw shot to the Wildcats.

At one point in the brawl, De Sousa was spotted with a stool in his hand, which was eventually removed by assistant coach Jerrance Howard.

"De Sousa picking up that stool is awful, " they added. I'm not saying that both parties weren't in the wrong, but I know that we were in the wrong. He added that he had been in contact with a woman who was caught in the middle of the fight and said he planned to check on her on Wednesday.

"That was an embarrassment on our part for the role that we played in it, and there will be consequences that I'm sure I will announce tomorrow for that role as soon as I am able to study it and comes to grips with all of it", he stated. Cartier Diarra answered the fans that'd been heckling him all night from an early air-ball by adding a layup, and Gordon's 3-pointer capped a 13-2 run that got Kansas State withing 49-36 with about 14 minutes left in the game. He then stood over the freshman and barked at him.

Following Self's media session, Kansas State head coach Bruce Weber took responsibility for his team's role in the incident. "It's my guys - it's my fault". We talked to them and relayed to them how selfish it was.

No. 3 Kansas improves to 15-3 overall and 5-1 in the Big 12 with the win, according to NBC Sports.

The two teams are scheduled to meet again in NY on February 29.
