Morbius' First Trailer Is Here And Jared Leto Is Dripping With Blood

In the first trailer for Marvel's "Morbius", Jared Leto sheds his "Joker" persona as he transforms into the vampiresque super villain.

The film will be based on the Marvel comic Morbius the Living Vampire featuring the popular anti-hero, who first appeared in The Amazing Spider-Man #101.

As for why the Spider-Man poster seen in this first Morbius trailer appears to be the Tobey Maguire version of Spider-Man, that may likely be down to Sony and its Columbia division exclusively owning the rights to Maguire's Spidey.

The 48 year-old is reportedly done as the Clown Prince of Crime though, with the latest Birds of Prey trailer making it look as if Harley Quinn kills him off for good.

The photo was posted on Twitter, initially by a known insider of the entertainment industry.

In the Spider-Man comics, Dr. Morbius is stricken with a "debilitating blood disease and developed an experimental treatment involving vampire bats and electroshocks". As with many other mutants in the Marvel universe, a failed experiment led him to suffer a pseudo-vampirism which gives you thirst for blood, aversion to light and other characteristics.

Obviously, the Jared Leto Morbius is going to be in the same Spider-Man spinoff universe as the Tom Hardy Venom, but whether they actually meet depends on the continued success of the new Sony Spidey spinoff franchise.

Note also the Spider-Man poster with "MURDERER" graffiti sprayed over it in the trailer.

The biggest reveal here is that this movie is definitely connected to the Sony Spider-Man movies which means it's maybe connected to the MCU?

Morbius hasn't been announced as part of the MCU's Phase Four, so you can expect that anything that happens in this movie lives independently from everything Disney is doing.

The second thing is the appearance of Michael Keaton at the end of the trailer - Keaton, as you recall, was the villain Vulture in "Spider-Man: Homecoming".
