America is lighting up with holiday cheer, glitter and new goals on New Years' Eve 2019.

If you're fearless enough to join the crowds converging on Times Square, there will be plenty to see, including rapper Post Malone and South Korean boy band BTS performing on ABC's "Dick Clark's New Year's Rockin' Eve With Ryan Seacrest 2020".

The event begins at 10 a.m. and last until 1 p.m. The six-hour live-stream is presented uninterrupted and without advertising.

The city government announced that alerts and other updates on New Year's Eve can be accessed by text. Fox's "New Year's Eve With Steve Harvey" is set to feature performances by Lauren Alaina, the Village People, LL Cool J, The Chainsmokers, The Lumineers, Florida Georgia Line, Backstreet Boys, The Killers and Tyga.

The idea for a time ball became popular in the 19th century. "That ball that we'll all watch is over 12 feet in diameter". The current crystal ball can display more than 16 million colours, contains more than 32,000 LEDs and weighs in at a whopping 11,875 pounds.
