Queen agrees Prince Harry and Meghan can go it alone

It's official: Prince Harry and Duchess Meghan Markle will be spending time in Canada after senior royals held discussions about their future Monday.

While she made it clear she wished the couple would remain full-time working members of the royal family, the Queen gave them her blessing.

The statement continued: "We now plan to balance our time between the United Kingdom and North America, continuing to honour our duty to The Queen, the Commonwealth, and our patronages".

Their effective resignation on Wednesday last week followed a year filled with rumors of infighting between the brothers and reports of Meghan feeling unwelcome in the highly traditional and structured royal family.

Nearly a week after Meghan Markle and Prince Harry shocked the world and the rest of the royal family by announcing they were stepping down as senior members of the royal family, it's since been reported that the couple felt their breakup with the crown was inevitable.

Meghan has flown to Vancouver, leaving Prince Harry to meet the Queen and talk through their decision.

The queen has previously said she wanted to find "workable solutions" to the crisis, which has dominated the media since the bombshell announcement last week.

With the exception of the young Prince George, the royals in the immediate line of succession will sit down with Prince Harry to discuss options for his split from the royal family.

"The family will gather on Monday at Sandringham to talk things through, attended by Her Majesty, the Prince of Wales, the Duke of Cambridge and the Duke of Sussex", a royal sources said.

The Duchess of Sussex, who is now in Canada, was likely to take part in the meeting via conference call, provided that she has no issues with the considerable time difference.

The criticism intensified on Friday after the palace confirmed that USA -born former actress Meghan had flown to Canada, where she had lived for several years while filming the popular television drama "Suits".

"There's still a lot of decisions to be taken by the royal family, by the Sussexes as themselves, as to what level of engagement they choose to have", Trudeau said in response to a reporter's question.

Meghan later flew back to Canada to be with the couple's eight month old son, Archie.
