Tiger announces first outings for 2020

Woods last played a full-field event at the Zozo Championship in Japan in October, where he emerged as the victor.

Woods ended a year ago on a high note by leading the United States to yet another Presidents Cup triumph as player-captain in December. Woods will undoubtedly be among the favorites to win at both events, and he's dominated at Torrey Pines over the course of his career, with eight victories at the course.

Tiger Woods will have his first crack at securing a record-setting 83rd PGA Tour victory in two weeks.

Woods's win at the ZOZO Championship in Japan back in October took him to 82 wins on tour equalling the record held by Sam Snead. In its first year with elevated status, the longstanding tournament is now an invitational, with Woods serving as tournament host.

The tournament, which will run from January 23-26, has been Woods' usual start to the first year. There are also nine past Farmers Insurance Open winners committed (including the last 10 straight), as well as 11 players who have accounted for 33 major championship victories. He joins a loaded field that includes Rory McIlroy, Justin Rose, Phil Mickelson, Jon Rahm and Zander Schauffele. Adult grounds tickets start at $50, with upgraded VIP tickets starting at $90. Fans can also enjoy ocean and golf views while sitting at picnic tables in the Michelob ULTRA Zone.
