UK's Attenborough says 'moment of crisis' has come on climate

Sir David Attenborough has today warned we must make "life or death decisions" to tackle climate change.

Not holding back, Sir David reveals some of the biggest challenges facing life on our planet and provides a snapshot of global nature loss in a single lifetime.

One 91-year-old climate activist from Sussex has been doing exactly that for much of his life.

"This is part of our commitment to Our Planet Matters and we have many exciting new commissions across news and current affairs with informative, accessible expertise, to help audiences keep up with this vital story".

"Human beings have overrun the world", he says.

"The living world is a unique and spectacular marvel, but the way we humans live on earth is sending it into a decline".

Sir David said that public opinion regarding the fight against climate change, especially among young people, has changed a lot. This film is my witness statement and my vision for the future.

The film, which is produced in collaboration with the World Wildlife Fund, shows how the human race are quickly destroying the planet. "We're replacing the wild with the tame", he said in the trailer.

"And besides, we know how to do it - the paradox is that we refuse to take steps that we know need to be taken, and each year that goes by makes it increasingly hard to take those steps to reach".

In a statement, Colin Butfield, WWF's Executive Producer for the film, said: "For decades, David has brought the natural world to the homes of audiences worldwide, but there has never been a more significant moment for him to share his own story and reflections". We need to learn how to work with nature rather than against nature.

The documentary will be released in cinemas on April 16 and will also screen on Netflix.

The renowned naturalist and broadcaster said action has been put off "year after year" but there is no more time to "prevaricate".

New feature documentary David Attenborough: A Life On Our Planet will premiere on Netflix this spring, and now we've got our first glimpse of the ambitious project. It will be broadcast live to cinemas across the U.K., Netherlands, Iceland, Ireland, Norway, Sweden, Denmark and Finland, as well as Australia and New Zealand.
