Elon Musk's "Underwhelming" Dig On Bill Gates Buying "Cool" Porsche EV

Elon Musk dissed the Microsoft billionaire in a tweet sent Tuesday, claiming his conversations with the Microsoft founder had been "underwhelming".

San Francisco - Tesla founder Elon Musk took a jibe at Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates on Tuesday after it emerged that the world's second richest man just bought his first electric vehicle - and it wasn't a Tesla.

The jab came as a response to an interview the Microsoft founder and world's second-richest did with popular tech YouTuber Marques Brownlee, in which he revealed that he had recently purchased his first electric vehicle - a Porche Taycan. (AAP) Bill Gates doesn't want a Tesla. I have to say, it's a premium-price auto but it is very, very cool.

Musk responded on Twitter to a user that asked about Gates' new purchase, saying "My conversations with Gates have been underwhelming tbh [to be honest]".

The billionaire also added that even though many auto manufacturers have started production of electric passenger vehicles, the biggest concern lies with whether customers would be capable of affording the range. "I just got a Porsche Taycan".

"And certainly Tesla, if you had to name one company that's helped drive that, it's them", Gates said in the interview.

However, the South African born inventor Musk was clearly not impressed by this purchase decision or about the fact that Gates mentioned some of the challenges that the electric auto industry faces.

But he said one issue stopping some buyers from changing to electric is the more limited range for electric vehicles. He also added that recharging the battery takes a lot of time in comparison to filling up a tank of gas. "Gasoline is very dense energy", he said.
