First Footage From ‘Loki’ Series Released

After first being announced this summer, MCU fans across the globe were given their first taste of this upcoming highly-anticipated series when Disney dropped the first quick commercial during Sunday's Super Bowl between the Kansas City Chiefs and the San Fransisco 49ers.

The spot started with the Falcon (portrayed by Anthony Mackie) wrenching Captain America's iconic star-spangled shield from a tree and then hurtling the unique weapon.

The Falcon and The Winter Soldier Disney Plus series will be the first to land on the streaming service, set to debut in August.

Loki appears in what looks like prison garb at the end: "I'm going to burn this place to the ground", he utters ominously. This year, we saw previews for upcoming titles like Hunters, Rick and Morty and, of course, those groundbreaking big-budget Marvel shows.

As someone who's been skeptical about how the MCU could grow after the monumental Infinity Saga, it's pretty cool to see some formal risks being taken in these new productions, even if they're confined to the small screen for now. We see Loki being his usual charismatic self, Wanda and Vision having a trippy reunion and best of all, we see Falcon and Winter Soldier being absolutely badass. How that flies with the eponymous members of the Avengers remains to be seen. That's key information as WandaVision will lead into the Doctor Strange and the Multiverse of Madness film, due out May 7, 2021. Tom Hiddleston will reprise his role as Loki for the series. Could we see a similar deterioration in WandaVision?

With a very brief look at Loki (truly, it's just a shot of Loki delivering a single line), all three of these shows are, in my opinion, relying on us as fans to yell into existence about them for months and months.
