First look at Robert Pattinson as 'The Batman' in new dark video

This is something none of the previous movies have ever really done, but something the Rocksteady games handled beautifully. At any rate, the clip definitely appears to lean into Reeves' previous remarks about letting The Batman dive into the deep end of the DC hero's noir sensibilities. Many have brought the Caped Crusader to life on the big screen.

Comments ranged from "the suit is incredible" to "Batman scrawny!"

People are less sure about Robert Pattinson taking on the titular role. It's been suggested that the bat symbol on the chest of the costume is made up of the pieces of the gun that killed Bryce Wayne's parents. Not only does it carry a fair amount of symbolism, it also looks pretty cool - which helps. He's supposed to be the world's greatest detective, and that's not necessarily been a part of what the movies have been. This might not even be the final form of the Batsuit.

We finally have our first look at Robert Pattinson's Batman suit and it looks futuristic.

Pattinson opened up about trying the Batsuit on for the first time in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter last fall. It could be traced back to Dark Victory, the '90s sequel to Batman murder-mystery comic, The Long Halloween.

And just look at that jawline.

"It's very much a point of view-driven, noir Batman tale", Reeves told The Hollywood Reporter.

And he looks ... like Batman-although that's not generally the top thing anyone is actually anxious about with a new actor in the role, since pretty much any actor with a strong jawline looks the part once you put a Batsuit on them. Though the darkness of the footage makes it little hard to see, it appears the cowl is made out of leather - if you look very closely, you'll notice it's been stitched together from various parts.
