KPD Arrest Mother of Missing Idaho Children

Lori Vallow was arrested Thursday on the island of Kauai and charged with felony desertion of the children, 7-year-old Joshua Vallow, who is autistic, and 17-year-old Tylee Ryan, police said in a statement.

She is now being held on $5 million bond. Police say the mother of the two missing kids has been found in Hawaii, along with her new husband, but the children still have not been located. Vallow was given a deadline to turn the children over to authorities, a court order served by police said.

According to U.S. media reports, the children, who have different fathers, were last seen on September 23, 2019.

Daybell has not been charged. The Woodcocks are offering $20,000 for information that leads to the recovery of grandchildren Joshua Vallow and Tylee Ryan.

A hearing date has yet to be determined to give Vallow an opportunity to waive or fight extradition to Idaho.

On Kauai, there are signs that read, "Where are the children?"

Prior to her arrest, Lori Vallow, sometimes referred to as Lori Daybell, was on the run and living in Hawaii with her new husband, Doomsday author Chad Daybell.

September 23, 2019 was the last day Vallow's adopted, special needs son, Joshua attended school at Kennedy Elementary in Rexburg, Idaho, according to a police investigation.

An image provided by the Kauai Police Department shows Lori Vallow. Officials at first said she died of natural causes, but they have since ruled her passing as suspicious.

The Kaua'i Police Department arrested 47-year-old Lori Vallow (also known as Lori Daybell) of Idaho on Thursday in relation to an investigation being conducted by the Rexburg Police Department. And according to authorities, they didn't appear to have taken JJ with them.

On Jan. 26, KPD served a search warrant related to Rexburg PD's investigation on the rented vehicle occupied by Vallow and Daybell, as well as the condo they were renting in Princeville.

Lori Vallow and Chad Daybell fled after authorities began looking for their missing children.

Their disappearance was reported in November by the boy's grandparents, who live in Louisiana and had heard nothing from the children for an extended period.

In January 2020, the Kaua'i Police Department reported that the couple had been staying on Kaua'i for an unconfirmed period of time.

Details about the motive in the killing weren't immediately available.

Cox, who had shot Vallow's ex, then suddenly died in mysterious circumstances in December.

In August, Lori Vallow moved her family to Idaho.

Vallow's former husband had said she had "recently become infatuated and at times obsessive about near death experiences and spiritual visions", according to a petition for dissolution of marriage filed last February.

The second death authorities are investigating is that of Mr Daybell's previous wife, Tammy Daybell, in Idaho in October.

Their lawsuit "alleges that Vallow abandoned her two minor children, delayed law enforcement's attempts to locate her children, and encouraged another individual to delay law enforcement's attempts to locate her children", according to the statement.
