Mattel Announces Tesla Cybertruck Hot Wheels Toy

If you thought stepping on a Lego Brick was painful, Mattel is about to up the ante with the introduction of Hot Wheels versions of Tesla's angular, brutalist Cybertruck.

The most affordable way to put a Cybertruck in your driveway (without boosting Musk's bottom line by another £30,800) is with Hot Wheels 1:64-scale remote control toy.

Mattel announces a Hot Wheels-branded remote-controlled version of Tesla's Cybertruck.

That means the headlights, the taillights and the telescopic tailgate which slides right out of the back into a loading ramp are also real and operable. Okay, we're talking about two toy cars for you to play, not for you to get on.

Hot Wheels

Mattel said that both are expected to come in December 2020, and these are limited editions which will only be available till it is sold out. Each functioning element will blow your thoughts and put you "behind the wheel" of this science fiction-inspired, passion grade-radio-controlled vehicle that's off-road and rugged terrain succesful. The 1:64 scale won't have any of those features, of course, except for the options for Chill or Sport mode.

For those obsessed with details, Mattel designed the plastic body as a removable piece for collectors to look inside.

However, there's already a wait list to purchase the larger US$400 (NZ$630) version, which the website says is sold out. For the much bigger - and probably cooler - version, you'll have to hand over $400 (£309). According to Hot Wheels, it can hit a top speed of 25 miles per hour thanks to its 9.9-volt, 3300 mAh battery.

It can achieve up to 500mph speed rate. After watching the RC Cybertruck strut its stuff, including, quite adorably, its "insane towing capacity", the even tinier version-presumably made for ants at 1:64 scale-shows up for what is certainly the best automotive version of the "never talk to me or my son again" meme.
