Salah reacts to Liverpool Player of the Month award

I have chosen him in an expanded list of 50 players.

Liverpool striker Mohammed Salah was named player of the month for January, according to the club's official website.

The final of the men's Tokyo 2020 football competition is scheduled for August 8, the same day the 2020-2021 Premier League campaign begins.

"No decision", Klopp said at his pre-match press conference.

The tournament is for under-23 teams but three over-age players are allowed.

Egypt Olympic team coach Shawky Gharib has confirmed that he has included Liverpool superstar Mohamed Salah in his provisional squad for the 2020 Olympics in Tokyo.

Salah's participation is a decision to be taken only by Salah, Liverpool and Jurgen Klopp.

"We can not force Salah to participate with us", the gaffer told Reuters (via BBC).

And Egypt's plans are a major blow to Liverpool, given it may require Salah to sit out the opening weeks of the season if the Pharoahs progress deep into the tournament, as they will be expected to with a player of the forward's calibre in the team.

"The final list that will include 18 players will be sent next June, so it is too early to talk about the names of the 18 players".

Should Salah be given the all-clear by the current European and world champions, he could miss the start of the next Premier League season. The start of next season already seems an enticing prospect, although Liverpool could lose Mo Salah to the Olympics in August, his absence is no disaster.

"We train that, we know each other, I know Mo, I know he is fast, I know he likes to make runs and he knows that I like to kick long balls like that one", Alisson said on LFC Later.

"Yet I still notice that there's going to be a tough discussion to be had in between Klopp and also Salah over whether the Egyptian goes to this summertime's Olympics".
