Two arrested after SUV breaches Mar-a-Lago checkpoint, leading to chase

Trump is scheduled to be in Palm Beach during Super Bowl weekend.

Police found the SUV and apprehended the driver, identified as 30-year-old Hannah Roemhild of CT.

The trooper repeatedly tried to get her to respond by tapping on the window.

President Donald Trump's Mar-a-Lago resort is seen on November 1, 2019 in Palm Beach, Florida.

Roemheld appeared in various operas in CT and recently said on social media that she had planned an unspecified performance in Palm Beach last week.

Authorities don't believe Roemhild's actions were politically motivated and speculated that she lives with a mental health condition. Then she crashed through a second staffed checkpoint.

Officials also said the SUV was a rental auto.

A Sheriff at Palm Beach Sheriff told the press that Ms Roehmild was dancing on top of a auto and behaving erratically.

The vehicle was traveling in excess of 70 miles per hour when it got to Mar-a-Lago and crashed through two checkpoints. Authorities, that included local authorities and Secret Service agents, opened fire on her vehicle, but that was not sufficient to stop. She said Roemhild had performed regionally in CT, studied overseas and planned to attend graduate school this fall.

CNN quoted a person inside Mar-a-Lago as saying Secret Service agents had instructed guests and staff to remain inside at the time of the incident.

"FDLE (Florida Department of Law Enforcement) will be investigating this shooting". "That trooper followed that vehicle to a local motel where the driver jumped out and was trying to flee to a room". "It's not consistent with the person that I knew".

The president has traveled back and forth between Mar-a-Lago and Washington, D.C. during his presidency, describing it as his "Summer White House".

Currently, a Chinese national named Yujing Zhang is in federal custody awaiting deportation after being convicted of trespassing at the club and lying to a federal agent.
