Coronavirus: Juventus centre-back Daniele Rugani tests positive for virus

In a statement released on Wednesday evening, the club announced that Rugani has been diagnosed with the Coronavirus, but is now asymptomatic.

Inter players could be placed in quarantine after Juventus defender Daniele Rugani tested positive for COVID-19, otherwise known as Coronavirus according to a report from the online edition of Italian newspaper La Repubblica.

He is now asymptomatic, the team said in a statement on Wednesday night, adding the Juventus Football Club is "activating all the isolation procedures required by law, including the census of those who have had contact with him".

Rugani has won four Serie A titles with Juve and played for Italy seven times, last featuring for the national team in 2018.

The country is in lockdown as the virus has taken hold, as the worst affected country in Europe now.

On Wednesday, the Italian government closure of all shops apart from food stores and pharmacies as they look to combat the rapidly growing problem.

The Italian football federation said after a meeting on Tuesday that the Serie A season may not finish because of the coronavirus outbreak.
