Tucker Carlson torches Sen. Burr for dumping stocks ahead of coronavirus outbreak

Senator Richard Burr sold as much as $1.7 million in stocks just before the market dropped in February due to coronavirus concerns.

On Feb. 13, Burr purportedly sold between $580,000 and $1.56 million worth of stock in almost 30 transactions. Only two of the transactions were sales.

In response to ProPublica's story, Burr's spokesperson said: "Senator Burr filed a financial disclosure form for personal transactions made several weeks before the USA and financial markets showed signs of volatility due to the growing coronavirus outbreak". Burr said that he "relied exclusively on public reporting to guide my decision to sell the stock".

"One of Loeffler's two purchases", The Daily Beast noted, "was stock worth between $100,000 and $250,000 in Citrix, a technology company that offers teleworking software and which has seen a small bump in its stock price since Loeffler bought in as a result of coronavirus-induced market turmoil". THEN he sold off $1.6 million in stock before the fall.

The Georgia Republican was among four senators - including Sen.

Sen. Kelly Loeffler, R-Ga., is facing similar allegations. Loeffler, who also sold shares in companies that took a big hit, has denied any wrongdoing.

Junior United States Senator and former CEO of Bakkt Kelly Loeffler disclosed dumping millions of dollars worth of stock holdings in the days and weeks following a private senators-only briefing on the Coronavirus in late January, as reported by The Daily Beast.

In a tweet early Friday morning, Loeffler said the report was a "ridiculous & baseless attack" and that she doesn't make investment decisions for her portfolio. She said that all investment decisions for her and her husband are managed by third-party advisors.

"I'm not involved in the decisions around buying and selling", she said. Financial reporting now shows that five senators have sold major holdings in recent months. "This company is unrelated to any work on the coronavirus and the sale was unrelated to the situation".

"I completely agree with Tucker Carlson is something I thought I would never say", tweeted CNN commentator Keith Boykin.

"I think she's a very honorable person", he said. From being lionized as the nation's leaders, they became symbols of what had gone wrong with America.

"I expect to hear from each of them today", Mr. Barrasso told "Fox & Fridays".

"Given the circumstances, Sen". Richard Burr of North Carolina appeared first in the online news site ProPublica. "His self-referral to the Ethics Committee for their review is appropriate, there needs to be a professional and bipartisan inquiry into this matter". Nunes was vindicated and so were others who investigated the abuses but Burr was way behind the curve.

Burr's actions have many calling for the North Carolina senator's resignation, prompting the hashtag #BurrMustResign to trend on Twitter.

As Intelligence Committee chairman, Burr has been receiving regular classified updates on the outbreak. "Sen. Burr should suspend his chairmanship pending investigation". A week prior, Burr co-authored an op-ed for Fox News with Tennessee Republican Sen.
