Aarogya Setu now has more than 100 Million users

The Indian government made this app available in eleven languages so that maximum Indians can use it and safety gets the priority, not the language.

A paramilitary drive guarding India's airports and the metro practice stations in capital New Delhi has proposed an identical plan for all passengers, in accordance to Indian media studies. Using this app, people will be tested for their health condition for coronavirus before starting their journey.

It sought a direction that the name "Aarogya Setu" not be misused to sponsor the commercial interests of "arbitrarily hand-picked entities".

Shahid Iqbal Chowdhary has directed Drawing and Disbursing Officers (DDOs) to obtain a certificate that they had downloaded the Arogya Setu mobile application before the release of salary to all government employees, with the effect that all government employees working under his administrative control have installed the app on their mobile phones.

NITI Aayog CEO Amitabh Kant said that Aarogya Setu team has forecasted more than 650 hotspots at sub-post office level, which is in addition to 300 emerging hotspots which could have been missed otherwise. But later the app developers addressed some of the major security concerns that were pointed out.

Critics say the federal government's strategy to the app is reminiscent of the Modi administration's effort to make Aadhar, a biometric ID system, obligatory for the whole lot from opening a brand new checking account to getting a cell phone connection.

Government sources also say that strict legal provisions could also be in place, which would mean false or incorrect declarations on the Aarogya Setu app could land individuals in jail.

That push, which additionally lead to fears of a surveillance state, was reined in by India's prime court docket in 2018.

Aarogya Setu was so far available on both iOS and Android, and almost 10.19 crore users have downloaded the app.

According to Reuters, the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) has made an optimized KaiOS-specific version of Aarogya Setu available for 5 million (50 lakh) JioPhones in India. This will help it keep a check on the user, and alert them if they come in contact with a COVID-19 high-risk person.

But one other 300 million Indians use primary characteristic telephones and don't have entry to the Aarogya Setu app.

But the obligatory use of the app may marginalise these individuals if the principles imply they can not get on a practice to go to work.
