Grimes and Elon Musk finally explain pronunciation of baby's name

After Rogan started the show by congratulating Musk, he immediately asked for the pronunciation and whether it was meant to be a "placeholder". Musk also reflected on how unusual it was to have a child in the midst of the coronavirus pandemic, though he was happy his son was born on May 4, Star Wars Day.

The podcast, which aired on Thursday, May 7, explained how the X is pronounced "like the letter, X" Æ is pronounced "ash", and A-12 is said how it appears.

You can hear Musk explain the name at the 46-second point below.

However, we're finally getting the all-important information on how to actually pronounce X Æ A-12's name but the amusing part is, X Æ A-12's parents disagree on how to pronounce it.

Grimes has previously explained the baby name via tweet, only to be corrected by her partner on Twitter.

"X, the unknown variable, Æ, my elven spelling of Ai (love &/or Artificial intelligence), A-12 = precursor to SR-17 (our favorite aircraft)".

Elon Musk and Grimes have garnered plenty of attention since announcing the name of their newborn baby, but now it seems they can't agree on how it should be pronounced. "I appreciate it more".

Musk answered that it was mostly Grimes who came up with the name, though he did make a contribution. "Great in battle, but non-violent", she wrote.

The boy is Grimes' first child.

Gwyneth, 47, shares Apple, 15, and son Moses, 14, with ex-husband Chris Martin, 43.
