Lady Gaga reveals her ‘painful breakups inspired new album

To the depression-busting recent trend of joyful dance-pop, add Lady Gaga and Ariana Grande's Rain on Me, which premiered at midnight ET Friday morning, exactly one week before Gaga's full-length Chromatica hits. "If you were up all night drinking wine on calls w [ith] ur friends listening to #RainOnMe u better wake up and get some coffee for that hangover cuz the video is out", Gaga tweeted.

The song, titled Rain on Me, is the fist-pumping, three-minute dance-pop number I never knew I needed.

"I remember I said to her, 'Okay, now everything that you care about while you sing, I want you to forget it and just sing".

The video for "Rain On Me" will be released on Lady Gaga's YouTube channel at 10 a.m. PT on May 23. On working with Ariana Grande on "Rain on Me", Gaga said that "it was just awesome to watch her. She immediately felt like a sister to me", Grande wrote. I'm going to help Ari with picking her makeup and her hair.

Gaga seems to think very highly of Ariana, recognising that the young singer has gone through, "really hard life testing stuff". "She was, 'You're hiding.' And I was ... and then this friendship blossomed". "['Rain on Me"] is also a metaphor for tears and for the amount of alcohol I was taking to numb myself. Gaga revealed the many layers behind the song in an interview with Vulture, sharing that some of the inspiration for it came from her relationship with drinking. It's awesome. I really love seeing her have the point of view, and such gentleness at the same time. Let's show them what we've got. "It's two women having a conversation about how to keep going and how to be grateful for what you do".

"I was too ashamed to hang out with her because I didn't want to project all of this negativity onto something that was healing and so lovely", she said.
