
A former Minneapolis police officer has been charged over the death of George Floyd.
Derek Chauvin, the former Minneapolis police officer who knelt on Floyd's neck, was arrested Friday, charged with third- degree murder and manslaughter, according to McClatchy News. Floyd later died at a hospital.
His death has since sparked riots in the streets of Minneapolis, with protesters demanding action be taken against the officers involved.
Public Safety Commissioner John Harrington said Friday that state investigators arrested Derek Chauvin.
Phoenix Police Chief Jeri Williams spoke out Friday morning about the death of George Floyd in Minnesota and protests that happened in Phoenix Thursday night.
Jones, who lives in Gettysburg, South Dakota, said he first saw the video of Floyd's death on the news, but didn't immediately recognize his nephew.

Mr Freeman said evidence in the case continued to be reviewed, there may be subsequent charges and a detailed complaint would be made available shortly. "The actions and inactions of the on-scene Minneapolis officers violate the very tennents of our profession, and are entirely contrary to the ethical standards and training that we as police officers receive here in MA".
"I'm not going to get into that", he said, WCCO reported.
His nexttweet where he warned them of "shooting" drew another warning from Twitter which said it violated the social media platform's rules about "glorifying violence".
The Attorney General of Wisconsin, Josh Kaul, had previously said, "What America witnessed happening to George Floyd in Minneapolis was not, in any true sense of the phrase, law enforcement". Any difficulty and we will assume control but, when the looting starts, the shooting starts.
