S K Sarin, chief medical officer of ILBS hospital, suggested immediate deployment of all MD, MS, DNB graduate doctors in various PG medical institutions to be engaged for six months at Delhi government COVID-19 hospitals.

Delhi has been one of the COVID-19 hotbeds in the country.

On Thursday evening, Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia had said that testing was conducted at 193 centres and that people living in containment zones were being tested in the initial stage.

"The Government of India, on the basis of the report from the said committee, has already taken a decision for reducing the cost of testing in the NCT Delhi", observed the bench. "169 centres have been set up across Delhi", said Rai.

Rai stated that the Delhi government is also making efforts to fight with coronavirus cases.

A panel established to resolve on rates to be charged by private hospitals in the national capital for isolation beds, ICUs with and without ventilator support for patients of the coronavirus has given its recommendation, the Union Home Ministry said on Friday. About 6 lakh people need to be tested everyday. Union Home Secretary Ajay Bhalla also attended the meeting that was arranged after two consecutive meetings chaired by the Home Minister on June 14-15 to handle the COVID-19 situation in Delhi.

On April 30, the Supreme Court had sought the response of the government on a plea filed by advocate Sachin Jain, alleging that private hospitals are "commercially exploiting" patients suffering from coronavirus in this hour of crisis.

"61 percent citizens in the LocalCircles survey had demanded that COVID-19 hospital treatment charges for ICU bed, ventilator and consumables like PPE, mask, etc.be capped to address profiteering", said Sachin Taparia, founder and chairman, LocalCircles".

"To provide relief to the common man in Delhi, HM Amit Shah constituted a committee under Member of Niti Aayog to fix rates charged by private hospitals in Delhi for isolation beds, ICUs without ventilator support & ICUs with ventilator support". To increase testing capacity & quick delivery of results in Delhi, testing via Rapid Antigen testing methodology was also started yesterday.

It also said that as many as 2.3 lakh people have been surveyed for COVID-19 symptoms in Delhi's 242 containment zones.
