Bayern Munich star Thiago Alcantara 'agrees terms' with

Now Klopp is targeting another Bundesliga star in the shape of Bayern Munich midfielder Thiago, who is available for the right price, but there are question marks over whether Liverpool's owners will back the deal.

The 29-year-old is keen on signing for the Premier League champions and he has already rejected the offer of an extension from the German club.

Earlier this week, the Manchester Evening News then carried a report from Spanish outlet SPORT that claimed it was Manchester United who were set to sign Thiago after joining Liverpool in the race for his signature.

Bild are now reporting that the deal is getting closer to completion, helped by Jurgen Klopp's interest in working with the midfielder.

However, Thiago has reportedly turned down the chance to extend his stay at Allianz Arena beyond 2021, with Bayern now expected to cash in on an influential figure when the transfer window reopens. The report has further revealed that Alcantara has agreed to personal terms with the Merseyside team after Liverpool boss Klopp has demanded the club to sign Alcantara at any cost ahead of the upcoming transfer market. But the hard facts are: Bayern was never in a Champions League final with him.

On form, Thiago is one of the best midfielders in the world and he would be a superb addition to Liverpool's squad.

Thiago was part of Guardiola's Barcelona side in 2010/11 that won La Liga and the Champions League, while he was at Bayern for all three of Guardiola's Bundesliga title triumphs.

It remains to be seen whether the Reds can now agree on a fee with Bayern Munich.
