Teachers' union files lawsuit over school reopening order

As the Tampa Bay Times reported, the FEA filed a lawsuit in federal court in Miami Monday against GOP Gov. Ron DeSantis and education commissioner Richard Corcoran over the state's July 6 executive order.

The lawyers who filed it said the reason he is included is because South Florida is a COVID-19 hot spot, and it's up to leaders like him to convince schools not to reopen in August.

With cases - now more than 355,000 in total - increasing by over 10,000 daily for the last six consecutive days and death toll topping 5,000, Florida has emerged as a new global epicenter of the contagion.

More than 9,500 novel coronavirus patients have been hospitalised and just 18 per cent of intensive care beds are available, officials say. The order came after DeSantis recommended all Florida schools reopen at full capacity. Do you think schools should reopen?

DeSantis said that children have a low probability of contracting Covid-19, without mentioning that even asymptomatic children can infect adults.

"Our fight against COVID-19 shouldn't lead us to deprive our kids to the tools they need to succeed", DeSantis said.

"We're not going to be defunding the police, don't worry about that, we're going to be supporting our men and women in law enforcement", said DeSantis as law enforcement officers escorted the protesters outside.

Ron DeSantis (R) has asked the Department of Health to investigate following emerging reports of individuals receiving positive test results for the Chinese coronavirus, despite never taking the test. The positivity rate in NY, which saw the worst outbreak early on but worked to flatten the curve, has a 1.2% positivity rate for tests administered over the past week.

Plasma transfers have shown encouraging results in hospital patients, as the so-called "convalescent plasma" can be used to help infected people develop antibodies that stay in their own blood.

"It's all hands on deck at OneBlood", Scholl said.

"As quickly as the plasma comes in, it goes back out because that is the importance of the need", he said.
