Trump, in full reversal, urges Americans to wear masks

Two US hair stylists who wore masks while infected with the coronavirus did not pass on Covid-19 to almost 140 clients they saw over the course of several days, a study said yesterday.

"Sometimes because the symptoms are mild or occasionally non-existent, people will be out and about and walking around and interacting with those around them, even though they're infected", he said.

Trump has said he will "pressure" governors to reopen schools, despite internal documents from the CDC separately obtained by the Times warning that reopening K-12 schools and universities would be the "highest risk" for the spread of the deadly virus.

"We're not defenseless against this virus". While countries all over the world have curbed their outbreaks and successfully reopened, the USA has an outbreak that remains completely out of control, with a number of states reporting record-breaking case numbers now nearly every day.

"It seems to be just an attempt to take it away from the CDC.[the HHS] didn't put in any incentives or penalties" to ensure more consistent data reporting, he added.

This is because everyone in the shop wore masks, according to a new case report published by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

"Covering mouths and noses with filtering materials serves two purposes: personal protection against inhalation of harmful pathogens and particulates, and source control to prevent exposing others to infectious microbes that may be expelled during respiration", the authors wrote.

The use of cloth masks rose in May across socio-demographic groups.

The results of the Missouri case study provide further evidence on the benefits of wearing a cloth face covering. Face coverings aren't needed all the time - for instance, people driving or walking alone in uncrowded spaces are probably safe without one.

CDC officials also wrote in an editorial on Tuesday that cloth face coverings were vital to fighting coronavirus, and could be particularly effective when all members of a community wore them.

None of the 67 who were tested were found to be positive, and none of those who refused testing reported symptoms over the next 14 days when they were sent daily text messages inquiring after their health.

Dr. Anthony Fauci, Director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, said an early misstep in communication hurt the USA public's acceptance of masks.

He continued, "I do think if we could get everybody to wear masks right now - I really do think over the next four, six, eight weeks, we could bring this epidemic until control". Many Canadian municipalities have mandated mask-wearing in indoor public settings.
