Chelsea complete Ben Chilwell signing from Leicester City

Ben Chilwell has officially been unveiled as a Chelsea player.

French media outlet Telefoot, as quoted by the Daily Mail, is reporting that Chelsea FC are favourites to win the race to sign the 21-year-old this summer.

Frank Lampard has been on the look out for a new left-back as doubt's continue over Marcos Alonso's reliability while Emerson Palmeiri is expected to secure a move back to Italy after failing to establish himself in west London.

The newspaper are also one of several media outlets suggesting that Chelsea have paid Leicester £50m for Chilwell's services so this is a significant investment from the Stamford Bridge outfit.

Club director Marina Granovskaia added: "We are very pleased to have completed our third addition to our exciting squad for the coming season".

Chilwell is the latest recruit following the arrivals of Timo Werner and Hakim Ziyech earlier this summer.

Chilwell had spent 11 years at the King Power Stadium, where he made his England debut against Switzerland in September 2018 in the first of 11 worldwide appearances alongside 99 for his first senior club.

"Ben brings plenty of top-level experience playing in the Premier League, Champions League and at worldwide level, despite his young age".

Chilwell - who made his Leicester debut aged 18 in October 2015 before going on to make 123 appearances, 99 in the Premier League - said: "I am delighted to be joining Chelsea at this very exciting time for the club".

"We've seen that over the past season under Frank, he does play the younger players if they are good enough, and just from speaking to him, I'm really excited to be here and I can't wait to get started".
